South Africa’s hottest artists will be performing at the 23rd Taung Cultural Calabash on Sunday, 24 September 2017 at the Taung Sports Ground in North-West.

Afropop music star, Lira, hip-hop hitmakers AKA and Nasty C, and the Tigi Tigi hit single artist – Sands, Black Motion, Fifi Cooper, Tuks Senganga, Mo’Molemi and many more talented Bokone Bophirima musicians will be getting the festival guests to sweat it out in dance moves and sing-alongs at this prestigious cultural event.

Taung Cultural Calabash is a three-day event from 22 -24 September, designed to celebrate arts and culture through Dance, Drama, Music, Comedy, Poetry, and other cultural celebrations. The festival is a one-stop cultural market, providing all forms of economic and cultural benefit to the people of Bokone Bophirima and South Africa.

“TCC 2017 will be celebrated under the theme ‘tsosoloso/revival’, in accordance with the Setswana cultural practice, predominant in Taung and Bokone Bophirima in general” says Dr. Otsile Ntsoane, CEO of The Mmabana Foundation.

TCC is popular for hosting a series of auditions and performances for amateurs and semi-professional artists. This year however, the auditions phase will concentrate mainly in the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District.

The three-day festival will consist of arts, culture and fashion exhibitions; drama and dance productions; puppet show and children’s theatre and storytelling; traditional cuisine and outdoor performances by musicians from the province and country-wide. Revelers will further be treated to two days of cultural activities in the main programme at the Batlhaping Baga ga Phuduhucwana Kgotla.

The Taung Cultural Calabash Festival is supported by the Department of Arts and Culture and the North West Department of Culture, Arts and Traditional Affairs.

Tickets to The Taung Cultural Calabash are available at Computicket (both online and instore) at R100 each. Cooler bags will be charged at R30 at the gate.
